A super early start saw our awesome trailer towing crew turn up in the dark at 6.10am (with one hours less sleep as daylight saving came into effect!) to get a primo parking spot at a very tight venue. Big thanks to Craig & Harriet Watson for towing the heavy load!
TMOCC had 28 paddlers, adding to the record race numbers in this event (There were 15 W6's!) We had Four x W6, One x W2, and 2 x W1. These encompassed:
The weather behaved nicely with no rain during the event, considering rain was forecast! It was a pleasant change for us to be on the Waikato river, rather than paddling in and around our usual Tauranga Harbour environs. Oh, and we all got a medal to show for it! Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the mahi, support and the fun of the day. DH Although we had a tremendous interest from people wanting to join our beginner course (over 45!), TMOCC had the capacity to take on 12 new paddlers via our Six Session Beginner Paddler course, and they began today. We provided an orientation, and the weather played ball enough to get out for a paddle around the jetty area.
Welcome to TMOCC Newbies! Enjoy the rest of your course! We had a fabulous turn out to carry out the mahi to add some sparkle. This included polishing one of our roller doors. Many thanks to the big numbers that turned out and brought along their elbow grease. After our mahi, we all enjoyed a well deserved BBQ! Team work is dream work.
Our social quiz night was well attended and enjoyed by all those who came along! Big ups to Kylie Valentine who did a fabulous job on putting it all together! |
